Focused on developing safe, affordable, and sustainable housing choices for a broad range of demographics, the Housing Authority of Cass County (HACC) and Beyond Shelter, Inc. teamed with Foss Architecture + Interiors to redevelop an 8 acre site in West Fargo, ND. Our team worked closely with the City of West Fargo Planning to re-envision a site along Sheyenne Street that serves as a gateway to their newly redeveloped downtown. Sheyenne Street is considered a “main street” corridor for West Fargo, and the City has worked to promote investment and redevelopment of a mixed-use environment with a walkable character.

Monterey & Brighton Place was Phase 1 of this redevelopment and consists of an 85-unit senior affordable housing complex with grade-level indoor parking, community rooms, amenity spaces, and HACC offices. The Monterey, which faces Sheyenne Street, has a modern appearance and flat roof lines to compliment the adjacent HACC High Rise and urban context downtown. Brighton Place, which abuts a residential neighborhood, transitions into a more traditional residential apartment building. Both buildings meet North Dakota Housing Finance Agency’s Green Communities standards by obtaining National Green Building Standard Certification.
