Foss helped a local developer envision the adaptive reuse of a derelict building in downtown Moorhead, MN, a couple blocks from Moorhead’s busiest intersection. The new 99 Bottles Liquor Store is clad in common building materials used in contemporary new ways, creating an identity for the new 99 Bottles brand.
Phase I included retrofitting of the existing building into a small liquor store. The wood rafters were left exposed to revive the historic character of the original building. Phase II included an addition that expands the selection of wines and includes a serving area for public wine tasting events. The new taller volume is clad in contemporary materials with glass clerestory windows that light up like a lantern at night, helping to draw in customers from the nearby bustling intersection.
